Physics Seminar:Jets from Massive Protostars

Speaker:  Dr. Peter Hofner, New Mexico Tech & NRAO

Title:  "Jets from Massive Protostars"

Massive stars form through gravitational collapse in dense condensationsin molecular clouds. Early in their proto-stellar evolution the mass accretion process is accompanied by a period of mass outflow in the form of narrow jets. In this talk I will present a number of observational results in our study of jets from massive proto-stars, including results from the VLA and the Arecibo telescopes, including radio continuum as well as maser studies. I will conclude with some preliminary results from the expanded VLA.
