Physics Seminar “ Communications Technologies for NASA Space, Exploration Missions”

Speaker: Dr. Félix A. Miranda, Chief, Antenna and Optical Systems Branch, NASA Glenn Research Center, Cleveland

Title: Communications Technologies for NASA Space, Exploration Missions

Date: September 24, 2013 (Tuesday)

Time: 4:00 p.m.

Place: Seminar Room, CNL C-310

The success of past, current and future NASA aerospace missions depend in not small part on having optimal communications capabilities. This presentation will discuss some of the work being performed at the NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) to develop radiofrequency and optical communications technologies to enable reliable communication links between Earth and diverse space assets. These efforts are well aligned with NASA’s Space Communications and Navigation’s vision of building and maintaining a scalable integrated mission support infrastructure that can readily evolve to accommodate new and changing technologies, while providing comprehensive, robust, cost effective, and exponentially higher data rate space communications services to enable NASA's science, space operations, and exploration missions.
